Former Dreyfus Building
Buenos Aires - Puerto Madero
Built in 1923, this iconic Buenos Aires City building was created by the French Architects “Benoit - Pater & Gantner” in compliance with the project parameters set by the “Ecole de Beaux Arts”. Its patrimonial value is unquestionable since it is placed within the protected historic part of the city.
This 6,695 m2 building surface was refurbished under Architect Mario Locatelli´s leadership who undertook the task together with Architect Iván Robredo.
The construction preserves the original facade with minimum interventions. To start with, an access facing Corrientes Avenue was opened for a parking lot in compliance with existing modulation.
Besides, all the window frames were changed maintaining the openings and the arcades to update the building to currently required comfort and safety standards. The project also comprises the upper level reordering.
Engineers Raúl Curuchet and José María del Villar were responsible for the structural calculus and the project comprised erecting new stories to take advantage of lower levels excessive heights. The building’s original internal partitions and ceilings were completely removed. The services nucleus and vertical circulation layout were also modified. The project depicts a new reception hall doubling in height which connects to the original portal access on 25 de Mayo Street corner.
The project and its development was carried out by the controlled company “Neuss S.A."
